Kim Swafford

Providence St. Joseph Health
Chief Operating Officer

Kim is COO of Clinical Program Services at Providence St. Joseph Health (PSJH). In this role, she has been focused on scaling best practices and developing system-wide Clinical Institutes. Her passion has been on focusing on how both patients and providers access our clinical programs and services – by developing Patient & Provider Engagement centers that are powered by a Consumer Engagement Platform (CEP). The CEP incudes a robust provider directory, customer relationship management, patient reported outcomes, and other applications to provide a high-value healthcare experience for our consumers.

Before PSJH Kim was Vice President of Service Lines and Patient Access at Swedish for over 7 years. Her contributions include strategic planning and program implementation for the Swedish Heart & Vascular Institute (SHVI), which resulted in the launch of several key clinical programs and increase quality. She also launched the first “Access Center” at Swedish, which was the beginning of the system-wide Engagement Centers.

She has also had experience with Philips (VISICU) for approximately 5 years on the tele-ICU program. In this role, she worked with large health systems implementing the first program to remotely monitor patients in the intensive care unit.

In September 2016, Kim received Modern Healthcare’s “Up and Comer Award.”  She also was chosen as one of the Puget Sound Business Journal's "40 Under 40" several years earlier. Kim earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology – from Colorado State University and Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA) and certificate in Bio-Informatics from University of Washington.
